India accounts for 2nd largest traffic for LinkedIn

I always knew that LinkedIn was popular in India because a lot of my LinkedIn contacts (from India) always seemed hyper active — making new connections, updating profiles etc.

But I was surprised when I found that India actually accounts for the 2nd highest traffic to LinkedIn just behind US.  Take a look for yourself:

When you look at the web searches for LinkedIn, the stats are even more whack. Indians do the largest number of search related to LinkedIn on Google:

Even though Brijj (Naukri owned professional networking site) claims to have 1.2 million profiles with 5000 new profiles being created daily, the traffic fails to even register as compared to the LinkedIn traffic.

So, let me ask you this — if you have been in charge of a hiring decision as part of your professional life — do you review the candidate’s LinkedIn profile ? If so, how important is the candidate’s LinkedIn profile to your hiring decision ?
