Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has entered into a partnership with AOL, by offering MTNL broadband customers a co-branded portal on AOL India website. The portal will be available at www.aol.in/mtnl and will offer news, videos, sports, entertainment content, messenger and unlimited mail to MTNL customers. 35% of the ad revenue will go to MTNL and the rest to AOL.

Interesting tidbit from the story – MTNL says it has a backlog of 30,000 new broadband connections.
I checked to see if the content for the MTNL co-branded portal was any different from the regular, base portal. In terms of content, I found no difference – the only variation I found was the MTNL branding and links on the right hand section of the page. All in all, it looks like a great deal for AOL India.
