Are we content consumers or content generators ?

Ok. Chances are you may shove this aside as just another generalization.

But it has been my observation that we (Indians) as a community, are more of content consumers as opposed to content generators. Majority of us will rabidly consume various forms of media while very few actually create content.

Debatable, arguable – yes, indeed !!

I’d like to know what you have to say.

  1. I so much agree … You can count good indian blogs/websites.And most sites are shitty content with loads of adsense.

And even after maybe having the largest Engineering Population planet , how much OSS do we really do. But we are happy to consume it though :) .

People might find it debatable , but TEch wise also very few papers /patents come out of India ( Compared to other countries with similar academic community ).

And plz dont involve NRI’s they are a different breed, Once they leave india they perform miracles :) .

  2. I have to agree. Content creation requires time and effort. Brought up on a culture in a society which have very less value put on time , it’s not surprising that we don’t see much from us.

However, i guess it’s on the changing path.
