User Interface while searching/booking tickets Bad. Gaudy colors. My biggest gripe – till the last screen, it did not clearly show me the total cost (tax incl.) of the selected flights. decent – looks very cluttered though. sorting of flights by price, departure time etc. Also displays the cheapest fare for the selected itinerary. Response time a bit slow though. Simplest, cleanest and best user interface amongst all. Easily readable info about prices (incl. taxes) good, intuitive interface for selecting the departing and returning flight. however, when i clicked book it, took forever to contact payment gateway – huge problem. after 2-3 minutes of searching, it came back with an error that no flights were found.
Results from a sample booking from Ahmedabad to Mumbai (dep: April 9, return: April 23) Rs/- 3548 Rs/- 4000 Rs/- 3555 Rs/- 3324 returned no flights in result

You should compare http://www.in.farechase.yahoo.com too. It is good. Recently, when I was trying to book tickets, farechase gave me better prices in comparison to makemytrip.com & yatra.com.

Sorry for broken link, it should be http://in.farechase.yahoo.com/

  3. Abhinav,

Based on the research I did, I did not find yahoo farechase to be so very popular. People still turn to MMT, yatra and cleartrip for their travel bookings.

However, if you’ve come across any resource which mentions that yahoo farechase is very popular, pass on the url to the resource. I ‘d be interested in reading that.

    thnx,
    -pranav.

  4. Pranav, you are right, Farechase isn’t popular in India. But it looks like they are purposefully not marketing this product in India now, and perhaps waiting for it to stablize (This was said by a senior Yahoo! India official)

  5. Abhnav,

    thanks for keeping me informed.

    Pranav.

  6. Dear sir,
I’m a marketing student of XLRI jamshedpur.
I’m currently comparing the following in the travel and tourism.

    Incredible India
    Malaysia – Truly Asia
    Cox and Kings
Madhya Pradesh – Hindustan ka dil
    Kerala – God’s own Country
    Make my trip.com

I’m looking these up in terms of positioning, segmentation, and other marketing dynamics as applicable depending on avaibility. If you have any data as the above, it would be of immense help if you could share it.As it is, I found the above data very helpful.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
