YouSuggest helps companies crowdsource ideas from users

yousuggest-logoYouSuggest is a new startup that markets itself as a ‘ social suggestion box’ for brands. Companies can leverage YouSuggest to harness ideas from users. The ideas can voted up or down in a Digg like fashion and the most popular ideas surface  to the top. Companies can create either public or private communites for their brand and use the generated analytics – reports to get a detailed perspective of their community.

The app is currently provided as a SaaS platform and pricing varies from $19/month for the Basic edition to $599/month for the enterprise edition.

The idea is not new and has been effectively used by several companies. Several other players already offer similar services, and have a substantial lead over YouSuggest. Given that, I’d say YouSuggest needs to provide a unique value proposition in order to differentiate themselves. Probably market more aggressively to Indian businesses. Provide a free basic package and let customers get hooked and lure them to a paid edition. They could have also done a free microsite for Indian elections in an effort to market and attract users (just thinking out loud here). Look into collaborating somehow with MouthShut. Work with media agencies who generally build microsites for Indian biz.

Without tapping into these various avenues, I think they’ll face an uphill battle against some of the already established players.

  1. How do you think would a website like YouSuggest or Digg gets those initial users who actively participate even without many around to see or comment on their submits?

  2. idea is crap…. what do users get by voting ?

company will make money…. nothing shared with users….

    idea will not work..

    my 2 cents

  3. I think it is a B2B solution meant for businesses….whereas the post is pushing an opinion of making it a consumer application for elections or something.

@A the ideas are given to company which deploys it. And then the company can provide its take on the idea back to its people…see this: http://dellideastorm.com

its easy to sound an empty vessel.:P

  4. there’s already uservoice.com which has been making a lot of money out of this. apparently this is very useful for internet based companies which want to keep the users in the look for upcoming enhancements/changes etc.

  5. how curious… looks vaguely familiar.
