Rivals4Ever is a community driven site, where users can create rivalries on different topics. Examples of popular rivalries include ‘Coke Vs. Pepsi’, ‘Ferrari Vs. Lamborghini’, ‘Facebook Vs. MySpace’ etc. Users can opt for any one ‘contestant’ and then add photos, videos, weapons (pros) and weaknesses (cons) for that selection.
The site can be pretty engaging to passionate customers and can be possibly leveraged by brands to gauge their public perception. In my opinion, their Facebook app is more likely to become popular than the site itself.
All in all, i think its a good time sink site, something along the lines of FunPiper.
Hi Pranav,
Thank you for writing about us. Readers please let us know what you think about the site and how can we make it more engaging and exciting.
Thanks
I wonder what their revenue model is. Ads? Pranav, seriously, how many such startups do you think can survive in a recession?
@nishi,
as i mentioned – R4E is a time sink site – if the community laps it up, it can be successful.
Besides ads, I think they can look for sponsored promotions – rivalries. Can be useful for brands to evaluate their perception in the public. But for this to be successful, they’ll have to build a strong user community first.
Copy of http://versus.bix.yahoo.com/
Srinath,
Whethar it is a copy or not, is not a big deal. If GMail could come later but could be termed as a pure COPY..then why mention the COPY part at all. All of us know that GMail is a big SUCCESS today…
IT IS ALL ABOUT EXECUTION for VALUE CREATION!
Abhishek..good going..could you concentrate a little bit on LOOK & FEEL..
Hi Ajitesh,
For boosting our morale. Yes we are working on UI and have changed the video gallery and image gallery page. Working on other pages now.
Srinath, we were not aware of the service like versus when we thought of Rivals4Ever and also versus is too basic to even compare right now. Of course it is backed by yahoo so that makes a difference.
Nishi, our revenue model is based on targeted advertising, sponsored rivalries, gaming integration, data analysis for now.
Pranav, you are right we need very strong community for this to work out but we are working on that only right now and soon will be creating buzz.
Thank you all for your comments,
Abhishek
