Greenobin is a new Indian startup that provides a wide range of recycling and waste management solutions to industrial and commercial customers. They provide two different types of membership: basic and premium.
Basic package includes waste collection that is done weekly/fortnightly or annually and some training and education. The premium package includes ‘Waste Audit’, collection schedule-frequency as per customer, security shredding, management reports – tracking etc.
A lot of you would hardly give a second thought about such a startup. As unsexy as it sounds, waste management is a very,very lucrative business. Take the example of a US based company called ‘Waste Management‘. They are a Fortune 500 company and had revenues of about $14 billion in 2006.
this is a grt initiative, practised by a lot of big organisations around the world, in India, its fairly a new concept. But the biggest fight would be, in todays world of recession, investment of this kind mite be the last thing on organisation’s mind.
what could help is the government endorsing this and making it compulsory, with a benefit attached for the corporates to take this up. incentive is the way to go. Corporate initiatives towards the society at large in which they operate – Public service needs to be for real and a corporate responsibility now onwards.
