MyBand.co.in – a new destination for Indian music and Indian bands

myband.co.in logoMyBand.co.in is a new startup geared towards the Indian music community. They provide Indian bands and artists to create their own profile pages. Bands can upload music, videos, announce events – concerts, sell concert tickets, sell songs etc. Bands can also create their own radio stations and stream music online. All in all, they seem to provide the entire gamut of features that a band / artist would need to create an online presence and reach out to their fans (think MySpace).

Users get access to a wide variety of bands and music and can participate via interactive features like comments, ratings etc.

MyBand has a strategic tie-up with Silk Road – a  Universal Company, which invests in South Asian artists and licenses international indie bands as well. MyBand claims to have 50 bands on board since launch and are in talks with other major labels to bring additional bands on board.

The site has been well done and I discovered a couple of pretty cool bands via the site. Although there was some latency in the online streaming.

The launch of MyBand makes me wonder — is there such a big market for indie music and bands in India ?

Other startups in the same niche are Uhooroo, Muziboo, RadioVerve.

  1. Actually,

some of the bands / songs were really awesome. I’m a big fan of fusion and discovered a couple of really great bands in that genre.

  2. Great Site, Some of the songs are very good.If this effort extends to even rural parts of india, then we can get acess to amazing rural and folk songs so far no body has put them on any platform .

  3. Not only a market there is a big demand for a destination for indian music.. with so many language here and people spread all across US, UK and Europe a place to cater to specific music needs for indians is most welcome.

We can only hope to see local bands – like Srinivas says. Folk songs etc are one of the strongest pillars of our culture and each one of us connect to those songs more easily. I checked a few bands and some local stuff and found them pretty cool.

  4. I like the overall look and feel of this site – some good music – some cool bands – much less clutter and like Srinivas says – if there are rural artitsts also – then sure this site will rock !
