Fachak, mentored by Morpheus Venture Partners, has launched into alpha today. Their goal is to enable you to explore and discover content from different social media websites easily and build collections around that data.
For example, say that I want to create a collection of Kangana Ranaut. I can easily search for Kangana across YouTube, Flickr and SlideShare and add the clips, pictures and data from the search results to my own collection with a simple click. If I want, I can also upload my own data to the collection.

You can ‘Fachak’ the media that you like, which is something along the lines of favoriting or rating the media. Of course, the most ‘fachaked’ show up as the most popular (I’m guessing).
Fachak label’s itself as an independent multi-format and multi-source content sharing platform. I really liked one of the pitch that they made:
Users don’t consume formats, they consume information
The site is still alpha and some of the features like privacy controls and syncing user’s uploaded data back to the social sharing sites are in the works. As they include data from more social media sites, the service could become useful as a single stop shop for media discovery and searching. Moreover, as the user base grows, it could be pretty helpful in discovering other pre-made collections. One example user profile is here – you can review some of the interesting ‘photoshop’ related media that this user has collected (you might need to login to view).
One of the main suggestions I have for them is to make it really simple for users to understand what the site is about and what value they provide to the end user.
StartupDunia readers can sign up here.
Give it a shot and let me know what you think

I do not understand the use of this …. you can accomplish the same thing using so many tools
delicious been one of them…. why do you need another website for this…. this is waste of engineering time.
One thing I like about Fachak is their ability to upload different content in one place. It has always been a pain uploading doc, ppt or video at three different websites, when the context was same.
You don`t go to three different websites to see images, text and video. You get that today at one place. So it makes more sense to get embedd code from a single place whether I upload PPT, DOC or video format.
Its really heartening to see Indian startup scene getting more aggressive and not afraid to give startups from US, Europe and Israel run for their money.
I agree to ‘D’… even I was not sure what to do after sign up[Thanks Startup for the invitation]! There are many sites offering free uploads and storage, may be not at one place. But with this only advantage, its hard to convince the visitors to register or registers to maintain!
All the best!

Hello,
I might be a little late to comment but :
@D @netwala Fachak is not only getting all the data in one place but it also has some very good features. You can track people who are fachaking stuff on the net.
Take a use case, if you find a good southpark video on youtube and you fachak it, now everyone in the community has access to it and people who follow you also have access to it. It makes sharing and finding content much easier. Also, if you follow the right people, you can really get a world of information on your profile.
Plus, it is easier for companies to use and post their ideas for their users.
Serves a better purpose than FaceBook groups.
Ah! much clear now…. And sounds interesting, huh? Let me try and play again.
Thanks for the explanation , Rizwan.
thanks for the example rizwan.
In fact that was one of my most important suggestions to the founders.
make it simple for the end user to understand what the service is all about.
by the time the user tries to figure out on his own, he might lose interest.
Hi
If thats the only use…. orkut has updates, facebook has walls, and there are so many apps doing the same thing.
I am not convinced about why would I signup in the first place.
Sorry for being so blunt…. but I am not convinced yet.
D,
I had the same confusion — why do I need this – when the founders pitched the idea. However, when you try it out once, you would get a much better idea about the implicit value it provides.
you can search across different social media sharing sites at a single location. If you are looking for contextual content, this can be very helpful. There are a few rough edges to the service now, but with more features fachak could be useful.
all i can say is for you to try it out.
