Last weekend, Google sponsored and hosted an event called WeekendApps for OpenSocial developers. The idea was a full weekend of hacking and codingĀ and to completely design, develop and deploy an OpenSocial app within 1.5 days. The apps would go live by evening of 22nd Feb.
The Dhingana team participated in the event and successfully developed and deployed their app called “Bollywood Music”. Highlights of the app are:
- Allows users to discover music with their friends using the rich orkut social graph
- Send musical scraps to your friends
- Dedicate songs or playlists to your friends
- Create and share playlists (will be released in 1 week)
- Search for songs and maintain the musical history for all users.
- Mine all the musical data, from all orkut users and display the most heard songs and playlists on the application home page
Their app was judged as the winner at the contest and as a reward, Dhingana founders get invited to the coveted Google I/O event.
You can locate their app here.
Congrats and kudos to the Dhingana team !! This is a huge coup for them.
One small suggestion — just rebrand the app name if possible. Bollywood music seems to be too generic a name to build a brand around it.

congrats to Dhingana Team…
