BlogVani is a cool new startup that aggregates Hindi content from the exploding world of Hindi blogosphere. But it doesnt end there. Blogvani also provides a Digg like voting concept, aka the “pasandometer” – where the more ‘pasands‘ a story gets, the higher it rises on the page.
The site also provides tagging and uses some nifty AJAX on the site. They also have something similar to the Digg spy, which highlights the flow of stories into the site. They also offer a toolbar for both IE and Firefox, which will alert you about new stories on the site as well news in Hindi.
The site is pretty slick and very well designed. Based on the concept, design and execution, I am pretty sure BlogVani will soon become one of the favorite hotspots for Hindi content.
Speaking of Hindi content, the number of portals and Hindi bloggers seems to be growing at a stupendous rate. Some of the other popular Hindi portals are – Narad, Chitthajagat, Tarakash, Nirantar and Lokmanch. ContentSutra recently had an interesting post on monetization attempts of Hindi content portals.

Pranav,
I could be wrong but isn’t that done using Pligg. If that’s true, its not worth covering here.

@venkat,
no..its not pligg…pligg is php based. blogvani is coded using m’soft asp.
That’s right, Blogvani is programmed in ASP.Net. It’s a custom site, not made using a market script like Pligg. It’s got lot more than standard Digg features, and we keep adding more stuff very regularly.
Thanks for talking about us Startupdunia!

@cyril,
thanks and good luck. You guys have a lot of scope to succeed. This is one space where it wont be very easy for the biggies to compete.
Hello Pranav,
We recently upgraded Blogvani (now in ver. 4). We’ve added some RIA features that will make blogs and posts more accessible to users. We’re also prototyping a similar website for English language blogs.
Looking for your feedback.
Cheers!
