BID2Travel is a new service, where customers can bid for hotel rooms at various destinations. The concept is simple – Hotels have unsold inventory of rooms, which they make available on BID2Travel. A user can view the available hotels and place their own bid on the hotel room. Within 3 hours, the hotel provides a response to the customer, and if the bid price is acceptable to the hotel, the booking is confirmed. Unlike the month or two advance booking prevalent on travel / airline websites, bidding for rooms is only open for the upcoming 14 days.
The auction process is a win-win for both customers and hotels. Customers, especially last minute travellers, can avail amazing deals on rooms while hotels are able to make money on what otherwise might have been unsold inventory.

The concept is not new and Priceline has been operating a similar ‘Name your Price’ auction model successfully for the past several years in the US. However, as far as I know, BID2Travel is definitely the first such site to go live in India. Other Indian travel sites simply provide a hotel listings/booking features – none seem to be operating on the auction model.
The site design and usability could use some major work – but otherwise, I think that if BID2Travel can get the word out, they could be pretty darn successful.
What are your thoughts about BID2Travel ?

hi,
i have visited bid2travel.com and must say very clean and usefull site for the last minute business travellers ,like me.
good job bid2travel team
best of luck
In my opinion the design is excellent: it is clear, everything can be found pretty quickly and the site doesn’t have to be explained to the user. The concept is pretty good too. But how do they make money? Do they get a fee or something? How about their marketing? How do people from Europe learn of this site?
By the way, I like your blog and use it as a source of information for a German Start-up/VC-Information site, that I’m working for. So – please continue reporting on interesting Indian start-ups.
they make money by affiliate leads – for every successful lead, they’ll make a cut from the hotels.
i think the design can be greatly improved.
is this feature available anywhere in south india`now? can i have the link of the website pls
Cheapest possible copy of priceline.com
Hi Bobby,
We allways have a problem with people like you that you give your verdict without comparing.
i have visited this site its totally different and better than the priceline. The major difference is that priceline is allowing blind bidding where customer does not know what he/she is bidding for but on bid2travel.com its very clear and informatiove with hotel detail.picture, service and even google location map.
So have alook again before giving your verdict.
its made in india product, why we allways have to say american copy.
cheer up and save money
Ajay
