Google has joined the Band of Angels as an institutional member. The Band of Angels includes members like Alok Mittal (MD, Canaan Partners), Pramod Bhasin, Jerry Rao, Raman Roy etc.
As per Alok Mittal, “There is a limit till which each angel can invest in a company. Beyond that, an institutional member can co-invest with any angel if it finds the idea or the company interesting.”
Google seems to have aggressive plans for the Indian market – they’ve already invested in three other early stage funds – SeedFund, Erasmic and the more recent VentureEast TeNet Fund.
