The abrupt break from blogging

September 4, 2007 · Posted in Personal · Comment

I’ve had a couple of personal issues come up over the last week which needed immediate attention. Things were chaotic to the point that I did not get a chance to update you that I’ll not be blogging for a week or so.

Anyways, things are all settled now (at least for now) and I shall be back to blogging by tomorrow.

Oh, and if you are awaiting a response to your email, expect that to happen some time this week. Sorry about the delay.

Some design overhaul

Ok..As part of my scheduled upgrade to the latest Wordpress version, I decided to give the blog design an uplift too.

Let me know what you think.

Time for a break

Its time to take a break and let off some steam. I’m off for the coming week for some well deserved vacation. No work and no blogging for a week — yaaayy !!

Stay safe and see ya in a week’s time.

Lessons learnt

During the last week, I had my own share of ups and downs - the laptop crash being the highlight of the week. Its a painful, frustrating, tedious job to reimage the laptop and to salvage bits and pieces of your data. To summarize the entire experience in one word - a nightmare. Fortunately, I’d backed up a considerable amount of data and so the hard disk crash did not impact me significantly. None the less, taking regular backups is now at a even higher priority on my list of to-do’s (lesson #1).
On the plus side, I got to spend a few days without having to worry about email, blogs etc. Was able to spend some, as they say, ‘quality time’ with my wife. A short hiatus from blogging and work can do wonders to recharge the batteries and re-energize an overworked soul (lesson #2).

Getting back on track after a hiatus isnt a fun job though. The fact that the impromptu, short-lived vacation is over, is depressing. As if that werent enough, there are a hajjar unread emails and RSS feeds that are sure to overwhelm the faint hearted. Its good that Google Reader just lists the number of unread items as 100+ rather than showing the actual number of unread items. So, whats the best way to recover from all this information overload ? Simply hit the ‘Mark all Items read’ - the most economical and sensible solution (lesson #3).

Stay tuned as I limp back to normalcy.

Ok..So I succumbed to the temptation

In an earlier post, I’d voiced concerns about using the MyBlogLog widget on my blog. Hmm…Fast forward a couple of months and I’ve decided to shove aside my privacy concerns for the time being. With the readership of my blog surging, I’ve succumbed to the temptation of connecting with my audience. I’ve setup my blog community on MyBlogLog and welcome you to join the community if you enjoy reading my blog.
Hopefully, it helps me to connect with my audience a little better.

South Beach, here I come

Last several days have been physically and mentally exhausting for me. Over this past weekend, I relocated from Raleigh to South Florida. Selling off furniture, changing addresses everywhere, packing, trashing…ugggh….moving and relocating are never fun :-( .

The only one positive thing about the move - I now get to stay with my wife and as the pundits say - ’spend some quality time’ with her.

Will return to active blogging tomorrow.
