FunPiper evolves into an event planning site

FunPiper, which I reviewed earlier, has evolved into an event planning and collaboration service. Earlier, the focus of the site was to get users to answer one simple question - “How was your weekend?”. Now, you can create an event, notify your friends, track RSVP’s and manage other aspects of event planning from the website. A dedicated page is assigned to each event and invitees dont need to sign up for an account in order to collaborate on the event.

This evolution is good sign - the sooner you can identify whats working and what isnt, you can innovate and evolve into a different concept. Most of the startup ideas start with one thing and at the end of execution, have evolved into something completely different.

The evolution was gradual based on the user demands. We kept hearing from people if they could also plan their weekends. Moving from theme based portal to weekend planning, the demand came if they could also plan other events.

This is where evolution happened. And, now funpiper.com is taking holistic approach to event planning. The focus is to keep it simple and straight. We are coming up with value added services targetted to simplify event planning in general.

thanks Pranav for a writeup on funpiper!

Not exactly sure why there are screenshots of every even on the homepage - don’t really add much to the user experience and probably slow down the page load. Would suggest using icons to represent different types of events rather than use screenshots.

Otherwise, looks like an interesting site! Best of luck
