Read, learn and imbibe from the guru

Jason Calacanis (a master at link baiting and PR tactics) has an amazing writeup on how to do good PR for your startup.

Startup or no startup, I would advise everyone to bookmark his piece and definitely imbibe some of his mantras.

Thanks jason for this brilliant post.

    A fabulous, inspiring post by Jason. If I was to summarize, its this: be obsessed with talking your product, but at the same time ‘be human’ - that is don’t hard sell / speak to the truth / act like a mindless drone yammering on unless the other guy wants to listen. If you follow these two simple rules, then it’ll become a self enforcing PR cycle.

    Pranav - was wondering, in your experience which have been the better startups in building relationships with you? What did they do, and how did they do it? Did they take you out for lunch ;-) ?

    I think there are some parallels to be drawn with Jason’s post about ‘being remarkable’ and Seth Godin’s thoughts on making your product a Purple Cow. Indeed, I feel that what Jason is *essentially* saying is, YOU, the founders must be purple cows. If what I’m saying doesn’t make any sense check out my review on Godin’s book (its an essential read, in my opinion): http://www.moneyvidya.com/blog/?p=305

    @gautam,

    i have covered how to pitch to bloggers only blog earlier..

    Spamming and irrelevant comments are the biggest no-no to get a bloggers attention.

    The biggest thing to keep in mind is that unlike newspapers / traditional media, building a personal rapport with bloggers is key. just like any other relationship, you have to invest some time and effort into it.
