Head to head - HeadStart vs. Proto

Two great events - Proto and HeadStart, are going head to head in the 3rd week of January. Proto is scheduled for 18-19th January 2008 while HeadStart is scheduled for 18th - 20th January, 2008.

While Proto needs no introduction, HeadStart (& Compute) are twin events being organized by ACM Bangalore at the JN Tata complex, IISc campus. The 3-day event plans to include presentations of new products and research; technology tutorials; panel discussions on segments such as consumer services, mobility, enterprise applications and embedded systems; workshops on how to identify business opportunities, raise money, build products and effectively sell them in the marketplace.

Keynote speakers include Ram Shriram, Dr Peter Hofstee, a distinguished research from IBM Research and Dr Umeshwar Dayal from the Intelligent Enterprise Lab, HP Labs, USA. They have an impressive lineup of panelists and speakers lined up for the event.

Wonder why both events are being organized at the very same weekend. A lost opportunity for lots of folks who’d be interested in attending both.

Co-incidentally, I’ll be in India around the same time - for a wedding in the family. Unfortunately, I’ll miss out on both the events :-) .

    Hey Pranav,

    Welcome back…

I am sorry for posting my query under the wrong heading, but I found that the commenting on Web hosting reviews is already closed.

I was wondering if somebody can help me on the similar topic. My company domain and email is hosted with rediff.com and now i want to run a custom web based newsletter application to send about 150-200 mails to my customers probably 2-3 times a month.

Do web hosting companies allow using newsletter like application on a shared server??
Or what would be a better solution for implementing such a application??

Hope somebody can point me towards right direction.

    Cheers,
    Tanmay.

    Hi Tanmay,

Yes..I have closed the comments on that post because it was attracting a lot of spam and junk.

the shared hosting i use does offer newsletter functionality - though not web based. if your newletter is web based, i’m guessing its either automatic (cron-based) or manual (non-cron-based). if so, thats something you might want to check with the hosting provider.

    thanks,
    @p

Hello Pranav, Coincidence of dates is purely unexpected. Both of us (I am a member of HeadStart team) announced dates at the same time and hence we could not go back. Next time around, we will put in our best efforts to ensure that our dates do not coincide with any other similar event.
Also, we will announce the next HeadStart dates soon. You can subscribe to http://groups.google.com/group/friends-of-kickstart to keep yourself posted.
    Regards,
    Hari
