There are moments when you see a startup and wonder - “How did no one think about this before ?”. Delicious was one such startup - a simple concept, even simpler implementation. SecondShaadi is a matrimony site, which throws the very same question at you. As the name suggests, SecondShaadi is a second attempt at matrimony. Its a matrimony site serving the needs of widowed, divorced, separated people.

While market leaders Shaadi and BharatMatrimony offer searching for profiles by these criteria too, the fact that majority of the profiles on these sites are for first time brides and grooms, people intending to get remarried tend to get lost in the noise. Moreover, social and cultural issues related to remarriage may also play a role in people being hesitant or apprehensive of using these existing services.

The goal of SecondShaadi is to focus exclusively on people looking to get remarried. With other similar people on the site, it may help overcome the hesitation amongst the users from registering and using the site.

I think the concept is great and definitely has the potential to carve out its own identity in this crowded space. SecondShaadi is founded by Vivek Pahwa, founder of DesiMartini.
