Voiee, your personal online voicemail

Voiee is a phone-to-web voicemail messaging service from Genie Interactive Pvt Ltd., a Bangalore based company. The concept is simple. Sign up for the service, activate your account and choose your V-PIN (I’m guessing it implies virtual pin). Distribute your V-PIN to your network of friends, family and contacts. People who wish to contact you can leave you a voicemail by calling one of the Voiee numbers local to their country - city. They’ll need your V-PIN to leave you a voicemail. You can check and retrieve your voicemails by logging into your account.

Currently, the service is free, with 50MB of space for each account. Paid premium accounts with additional features (including higher storage space) are in the works. They are also planning to add other features and customizing the solution for corporations.

As per Deepak Samaga, Voiee founder, the target audience of the service is all the parents - friends, who are not internet savvy or do not have easy access to Internet and would like to communicate with their near-dear ones living outside India. However, I see a great potential for this service within India itself. Voicemail is a feature, which is not bundled with all mobile plans in India. Voiee would be a boon to mobile professionals and also to small businesses, who would no longer have to worry about missing out on important calls.

There are a couple of issues, which still need to be ironed out:

1) Provision of numbers local to additional cities within India - currently, they have one only local number for the city of Bangalore.

2) I’d like them to send me an email to my inbox (push-model) instead of me having to go and check my account for any new voicemail.

Go ahead, check them out - you may find their service useful if you currently do not have voicemail bundled with your voice plan.
