Business Standard plans subscription expansion, introduces BSBazaar and BSTravelBazaar

May 4, 2007 · Posted in India portals, Misc

The world over, online newspaper editions have tried unsuccessfully to deploy a subscription model - and have failed miserably. WSJ, NYT are some of the big names who’ve failed. Closer to home, NDTV, India Today have tried to get a paid subscription model going - only to revamp this strategy.

Business Standard, on the other hand, is planning to expand its paid subscription model to a wider scale. The annual fee will be Rs 149 for each of its eight verticals. Weekly newsletters for each vertical will also be available for Rs. 99 /- year.

They’ve also launched two additional sites: BSBazaar.com and BSTravelBazaar.com.

Wonder why they really need the ‘BS’ prefix everywhere.
