17 company consortium to build Asia-America gateway

A consortium of 17 telecom companies will participate in building the first submarine-cable system linking South-East Asia directly to the US. The Asia America Gateway (AAG) cable system will have a bandwidth of 1.92 Tbps and will support Internet and e-commerce. Bharti Airtel is one of the 17 telco companies involved in the project.
