Currently, mobile operators have a stronghold in terms of what mobile content the subscriber has access to. Subscribers are locked into the mobile operator’s proprietary websites to obtain mobile content.Â VoeVeo, a New Zealand based company, is aiming to change that by becoming the marketplace for mobile content for Indian mobile users.Â If you have developed any type of mobile content - ringtone, wallpapers, games etc., you can put them up for sale on VoeVeo’s marketplace. As the producer, you can also specify the price for each content item. For every sale, VoeVeo gets a 27.5% cut of the revenue and the remaining are passed on the content producer.

By offering such an unrestricted marketplace, VoeVeo hope’s to offer a platform where small time content producers can market their goods and consumers can get one-stop access to all sorts of mobile content. More here.

Doesnt say on how the service tax on mobile content (introduced in this year’s budget) will be charged for the content producer.
