Google looking for acquisitions in India

The world’s largest search engine Google Inc’s decision to invest in two early-stage venture capital funds in India, appears to have wetted its appetite for a more active buy-out strategy in the country. The $10.7 billion giant now says it is open to acquisition of Indian companies that have ‘interesting technologies’ to offer.

Mobile music revenues will contribute 88% of music industry revenues by 2009

Digital music (online and mobile), according to a Soundbuzz Pte Ltd study, would outsell physical music globally by 2009. But in India, the trend is visible even now with the mobile music sales close to surpassing the physical music revenues before the close of 2007. The findings reveal that the Indian music industry would continue to grow steadily from Rs 1,450 crore in 2005 to Rs 4,100 crore in 2009, with the growth fuelled by mobile music, accounting for 88 per cent of the music industry’s revenues.

The WAP version of the service wap.zipazap.com is already functional and can be accessed from GPRS enabled mobile handsets.
