Local Search On Your Move by OnYomo
Tech savvy folks from Delhi-NCR and Bangalore have reason to rejoice. Blame it on Onyomo (short for ‘on your move’) - a local search engine, hoping to make it easier to search for local businesses in these regions. The company seems to be founded by ex-IIT Delhi alums and is incubated by the ‘Technology Business Incubation Units’ at IIT Delhi. Here’s a verbatim description of their motivation and ambitions found here:
OnYoMo is an information service that delivers consumer information over the Internet and mobile devices. The company was started by alumni of IITs and it commenced operations in August 2005.

Pune360 - Classifieds for the city of Pune
Pune360 is a classifieds portal for the city of Pune - aka Craigslist for Pune redux, albeit with a flair. Classifieds seems to be primary focus of the site, although they seem to be expanding services and attempt a full blown portal for the city of Pune.
At first glance, the site appers very well designed and developed. The layout and design is very appealling. The spring colors inspired theme is a welcome change and a breakaway from the norm. The site is very simple to use and navigate (none of the fancy web 20 features like tagging, bookmarking etc.).
Interview with Ruban Phukan, co-founder of Indian job portal Bixee
Bixee is a vertical search engine for jobs in India. Bixee crawls and provides the user a means to search for jobs posted across all the major job portals and job boards in India.
Bixee was founded by Ruban Phukan and Rajesh Warrier - ex-yahooligans from Bangalore, who now call themselves as RHR Networks Pvt. Ltd. They seem to be dabbling in quite a number of things : * PixRat - Bookmark and Tag Photos from the Web * ApnaMarket - Bangalore Classifieds * QuestionBank - Job Interview Questions and Answers
Here’s an interview with Ruban Phukan about Bixee:
Paul Graham’s take on startups - The 18 Mistakes That Kill Startups
Paul Graham, the famous entrepreneur and creator of YCombinator, has written a new essay - The 18 Mistakes That Kill Startups. Go ahead, read it - his essays always make good reading. Although personally, I do not agree with some of the points he makes in this particular essay. His essays are a must-read for all current and wannabe entrepreneurs.
Look Mama, its SERaja
SERaja - pronounced as either ‘C-Raja’ (as one word) or ‘Es E Raja’ (as three words) - is the conception of Ramesh Jain (entrepreneur, Professor in Computer Science at UC Irvine) and Rajesh Jain (entrepreneur, remember Indiaworld ?). The tagline for SERaja is “The EventWeb”.
At first glance, I got the impression that it is a listing board for upcoming events (aka Upcoming, Eventful clone). Digging further into the site made me realize that it is a cross between EventBlog and kind of wiki for events.
India based search engine Guruji

A lot of buzz was generated recently when the India based search engine Guruji received funding to the tune of $7 million from Sequoia Capital. I decided to pay my respects to Guruji and take a test drive.
Before I talk about the visual design of the site, I wanted to know more about what Guruji is. The tagline for the site is “the Indian search engine”. It wasnt obvious to me whether they meant web search or local search for India. There is a significant difference between the two - web search would imply that Guruji should crawl and display sites which target the Indian audience only. Local search would imply that Guruji displays results (mainly business listings) local to the specified city/location.

Welcome to StartupDunia
What is StartupDunia ?
Hello and welcome to StartupDunia. StartupDunia is everything and anything related to startups and entreprenuerial ventures by Indians. I have always been fascinated by the world of startups and entrepreneurship. The Google - YouTube deal is still resonating in my ears as I write this. Entrepreneurship has its rewards — financial (if you do a kick-ass job in your venture and get lucky), emotional, educational (get to learn whole lotta things) and professional (network with super-smart people). You are in command of the ship. You get to delve into aspects of business that you normally would never have gotten a chance to do.
