MovieTell - Online movie ticket sales in India
MovieTell offers online sales for movie tickets in India. Currently, you can buy tickets for movies in the following cities: Indore, Kanpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune and Surat. I am pretty sure other cities will be in the works. The site is very rudimentry and after 4 failed attempts, I could not sign up for the service.
We’ll revisit this site if and when it gets ready for prime-time.
On a side-note, notice the ‘Beta’ beneath the logo on their site. Seems they’ve been infected by the web 2.0 bug already
Update: Rick from MovieTell says that the sign-up has been corrected. I’ll give it a shot again over the weekend.

I have heard from friends in the multiplex industry that big tree is doing quite well in the segment of selling tickets on phone/call center. In Delhi NCR area they have taken all the business from other tradional players.
In current conditions, for a service like this, traffic/sales via phone will be much greater than the online traffic. As long as you have that part under control. I think its ok for website to take some more time to work properly.

Hi,
I am part of the movietell team, and found it surprising you could not register for the service. Currently in beta, we are live only in NCR for a few cinemas and the response has been fantastic. Though other cities have been integrated, they have not been made live yet. We should be launching in all the cities quite soon.
We have not had any complaints about the registration process though, so any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

Rick,
Thanks for stopping by. the problem I was facing was probably this:
I entered a phone number in the cell phone field..but the registration form get giving me an error saying “enter at least one phone number”. From the msg, I wasnt sure if it was expecting the number in a particular format or if I had to enter a residential / office phone number also.
The popup-alert wasnt clear enough to take a corrective action.
Thnx,
Pranav.
