Pune360 - Classifieds for the city of Pune
Pune360 is a classifieds portal for the city of Pune - aka Craigslist for Pune redux, albeit with a flair. Classifieds seems to be primary focus of the site, although they seem to be expanding services and attempt a full blown portal for the city of Pune.
At first glance, the site appers very well designed and developed. The layout and design is very appealling. The spring colors inspired theme is a welcome change and a breakaway from the norm. The site is very simple to use and navigate (none of the fancy web 20 features like tagging, bookmarking etc.).
One very valuable feature is the searching for classifieds by location. So, for instance, while searching for room-mates, you can limit searches by East, West, North, South and Central pune. The ‘Writing Wall‘ - essentially a blog with user submitted content makes a pretty interesting read. The site seems to be attracting decent amount of traffic. As per Alexa, the traffic rank for the site was up by almost 900k in the last 3 months and page views were up by 35% during the same period.

During the time of writing of this post, the site had a total of 817 classified listings (Craigslist for Pune had 109 listings) across all the categories with the following breakup:
- Housing - 259
- Buy & sell - 140
- Personals - 80
- Jobs - 100
- Education - 38
- Services offered - 83
- Community - 10
- Misc - 27
- Resumes - 25
- Baby-kids - 5
- Autos - 50
One significant drawback with the site is the lack of ability upload photos related to a classified ad. So, if I was selling a car / motorbike, I cannot attach a related photo. It is a major shortcoming for a classifieds site and may negatively impact in the long term. Also, if a contrasting font color were used, it would increase the usability of the site. In certain sections, the font and the background nearly overlap making it difficult to read. To explain what I mean by the above, see the following screenshots:

I also could not locate a ‘Help’ section (not that I needed one) on the website. On a side-note, can anyone explain the category ‘Baby-kids’ ?
Overall, the site’s strengths lie in its simplicity, ease of navigation and design. These aspects set it apart from the rest of the herd. Feature wise, however, there is room for improvement.

HI,
I am a freelance journalist and currently working on a story on the increasing number of IT startups coming up in Pune. Was wondering if you know any IT startups that have come up in Pune in the last two-three years. It would be of big help. Please do let me know.
Thanks and regards,

I agree that Pune360 is the only worthwhile website in Pune today.
It’s also added a new Forums section.
I’m waiting for some website to have comprehensive city info.
